SPS adds two new staff members for 2024-25 school year

Jayde Forey and Michael Lowe have joined the Shelton Public School staff for the new school year as middle level special education teacher and high school special education teacher, respectively. Mrs. Forey related, “My roots are in Ravenna, where I graduated in 2017. I graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK) in December 2023 with a degree in psychology and a kindergarten through twelfth grade special education degree.”

Homecoming Week celebrated at WRRHS

Homecoming Week began on Monday at Wood River Rural High School and continues this week with numerous activities, culminating on Friday night. Remaining Dress Up Days include Cops and Robbers Day today (Thursday) and Purple Pride Day on Friday. A homecoming pep rally begins at 2:20 p.m. on Friday in downtown Wood River. The varsity football team will kick off its season against Centura later that day at 7:00 p.m., the Post Prom Committee will host a hamburger feed, and the junior cheer and dance team will be performing at halftime. Coronation of the Homecoming King and Queen will be held following the football game on the field and the Homecoming Dance will be held afterward. Union Pacific’s famed “Big Boy” steam engine to cross Clipper Country on Sunday

Union Pacific Railroad recently announced its famed Big Boy No. 4014 locomotive will stop in more than three dozen communities during its fall tour across 10 states. The east bound leg of the tour takes the locomotive through the communities of Gibbon, Shelton, Wood River, and Alda on its way to a stop in Grand Island.
