CHI Health St. Francis Foundation recently welcomed four new members to its board of directors, including Joe Grabowski, of Cairo. Grabowski began his three-year term at the beginning of the hospital’s fiscal year 2025.

Union Pacific’s Big Boy No. 4014 traveled through Gibbon, Shelton and Wood River on Sunday, September 1, as part of its eastward leg of the “Heartland of America Tour,” which began on Wednesday, August 28, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and continued across Nebraska, Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas. The eight-week tour concludes in late October. Twenty-five Big Boys were built exclusively for Union Pacific Railroad, the first of which was delivered in 1941. Big Boy No. 4014 was delivered to Union Pacific in December 1941. The locomotive was retired in December 1961, having traveled 1,031,205 miles in its 20 years in service. (–photo by Steve Glenn)
