Rising costs, varying weather conditions, and dry conditions continue to impact crop yields and prices locally and across the state of Nebraska throughout the summer of 2026 and leading into the fall harvest months.
The Celebrate Wood River Performing Arts Council is proud and excited to present its 2026-2027 Performing Arts Series. The performances are free to the public due to the support of the Donna Lee Moyer Performing Arts Gift, Wood River Foundation, Nebraska Arts Council, the Nebraska Cultural Endowment, and Humanities Nebraska. A free will donation is welcomed to continue this series into the future.
Every town has a history, but in small towns those histories are often forgotten. The founding families pass away, children move and preserving what came before starts to feel less important with each passing year. The Shelton Historical Society is determined to ensure that doesn’t happen here. Led by President Sue Uhrich, the historical society works hard to maintain a sense of pride in Shelton’s history and what makes the town special.
The City of Wood River is continuing its efforts to gain roughly $130,000 in uncollected city taxes between 2017 and 2024 relating to eight subdivisions that had been annexed to Wood River beginning in 2017 and believes Hall County Assessor and Register of Deeds Kristi Wold left the Wood River subdivisions in Hall County tax districts instead of putting them on city taxes rolls.
