More than 900 exhibitors from across the United States gathered at Fonner Park in Grand Island, June 12–18, for the Maine-Anjou and Chianina Junior National Show. The week-long event featured approximately 1,600 head of cattle and a full slate of educational contests, leadership activities, and cattle exhibitions.
Gibbon High School student Ivy Noller proudly represented Nebraska at the 2026 Certiport Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) U.S. National Championship held June 14–17 in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Centura Legion Post 333 Junior baseball team participated in the Twin River Tournament held at David City on Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7, and walked away with the championship plaque. On Saturday they defeated Albion, 16-6. Then on Sunday they had two games. In the first game, Centura Post 333 defeated David City 7-6. The final game was against Twin Rivers and Centura again won, 11-0. The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) received a record-breaking number of applications from high school students wanting to attend this year’s Nebraska Agricultural Youth Institute (NAYI) with 252 students being selected to attend this year’s event, including Keaton Heikkinen, Landi Weldon and Trace Smith, all of Gibbon.
Erin Gegg was recently selected to receive a $2,500 STAR Scholarship from the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She was recommended by P.E.O. Chapter BI, of Shelton.
