Gibbon homecoming king and queen candidates revealed recently

The candidates for Gibbon High School’s 2026 Homecoming king and queen were recently announced. Queen candidates are, front row, left to right, Ila Jurgens, Natalie Bendfeldt, and Cove Fries; and king candidates are, back row, Adan Tamayo, Lukas Altwine, and Juan Rodriguez. Crowning of the king and queen is planned for after the homecoming football game with Kimball this Friday which kicks off at 6:00 p.m. (–courtesy photo)

Gibbon lady golfers host scramble, compete at LPC meet

Gibbon’s Lady Buffalo golf team hosted the Gibbon Scramble on Tuesday, September 22, at Valley View Municipal Golf Course north of Gibbon and took part in the LouPlatte Conference meet held at Grand Island’s Indianhead Golf Course on Thursday, September 24.

Lady Eagles drop games to Ravenna and Holdrege

Despite hard fought contests, the Wood River volleyball team dropped its two games on the home court last week. Ravenna defeated the Lady Eagles on Tuesday, September 22, 19-25, 25-17, 21-25, 25-18 and 15-12. The Lady Dusters bested the Eagle ladies on Thursday, September 24, 24-26, 25-16, 25-22, 22-25 and 15-2.

Buffaloes drop road contest to Broncos

A trip to Amherst was on the schedule for the Gibbon football team on Friday, September 25, where the Buffaloes met defeat by a score of 12-34.

The Shelton Lady Bulldogs dropped one match but won another as part of the Gibbon Triangular on Tuesday, September 22, and echoed that result at the Shelton Triangular held on Thursday, September 24.
