Plans for Gibbon’s 2019 Independence Day celebration are in place and will be presented this year with the theme “Gibbon Strong” and this year’s grand marshals will be Bill and Deloris Foster.

Gwendolyn Diane Bilslend, age 63, died February 20, 2019, in Omaha, following a courageous journey with cancer. She was born in Lincoln on July 6, 1955, and was a long-time resident of Shelton.

Sharyl Kimminau, age 76, of Wood River, died Saturday, June 1, at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha. Memorial service was held Thursday, June 6, at the Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River.

Robert Thomsen, age 94, of Kearney, formerly of Gibbon, died May 8, 2019.

Joan E. Gibbons Williams, age 93, formerly of Gibbon, died Monday, May 20, 2019, in Tucson, Arizona. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, May 31, at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney.
