“We have tons of potential, we just have to prove it,” noted Shelton cross country coach Matt Walter of his boys and girls teams entering his 18th season of coaching the Bulldog harriers. “We gained a lot of experience last year.” The teams’ slogan this season is, “No shortcuts. Work for it.”
The Gibbon Beautification Foundation selected the yard of Steve and Jan Jurgens for the August Yard of the Month award. In addition to being spotlighted on the City of Gibbon and Gibbon Beautification Foundation Facebook pages, recognized in the pages of The Clipper newspaper and receiving a Yard of the Month sign for their yard, Steve and Jan were also the recipients of a gift card to Adam’s Corner Market which was generously provided by the Gibbon Beautification Foundation. Residents may submit yard nominations for Yard of the Month from the first through the 15th of each month, through October. Nomination addresses can be submitted along with an optional photo to yardsofgib-bon@ gmail.com. The Gibbon Beautification Foundation encourages all Gibbon residents to participate and aid in recognizing the outstanding properties and landscaping efforts throughout the community. Shelton school families took advantage of the back to school night last Thursday, August 13, to check out their classrooms, meet their teachers, drop off their school supplies, and partake in fun carnival games on the front lawn of the school. An abbreviated first day of school followed on Friday. Classes for all SPS students started this week.
