On August 23, 1964, a dedication ceremony was held for the then brand new Maltman Memorial Library in Wood River. After over sixty years of serving the community, the library is now in the process of moving to its new location to be part of the Legacy Station for a planned grand opening on Saturday, July 25, as the Wood River Public Library.

And then . . . the rain came!

After a few dry spring months, Mother Nature decided it was time Nebraska received moisture, in a big way. The National Weather Service issued a flood watch and multiple severe thunderstorm warnings on Saturday, June 20, through Sunday, June 21, throughout Clipper Country and Central Nebraska. Rainfall was abundant as witnessed by flooded streets and full ditches The Weather Service reported 4.61” of rain near Wood River on Saturday and other reports varied.

Wood River Elementary Lighthouse students complete busy, productive school year

Wood River Elementary is proud to be an official Lighthouse School through the Leader in Me process, which is based on Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. As part of this work, the Elementary Student Lighthouse Team provides students with leadership opportunities that allow them to serve their school and community.
