Comedian Rex Havens will be bringing his comedy routine to the Wood River High School Performing Arts Theater this Sunday, April 12, at 2:30 p.m. This the last performance of the Celebrate Wood River Performing Arts Series for the 20252026 season.
Elaine (Jares) Peters will be celebrating her 90th birthday April 30. To celebrate this milestone, her family is honoring her with an open house and card shower. Everyone is invited to take part in Old Settlers Day next Tuesday, April 7, as the City of Gibbon observes its 155th birthday. This commemorative day has always been celebrated on April 7, in the past with few exceptions.
Wood River Rural High School shop teacher and boys wrestling coach Darin Waddington has decided it is time to retire from both the education field and the coaching realm after being a mainstay in the community and school for many years.
Ground will be broken for the new Shelton community swimming pool, and the public is invited to celebrate the ceremony on Saturday, April 11, at 3:00 p.m. Shovels will turn the soil at the new location just east of the existing swimming pool, at 368 fourth street. The Shelton Community Pool Committee, the Village of Shelton board and staff, along with community input, have laid the groundwork over the past four years. Now the construction phase of the project is set to begin. The existing swimming pool, originally opened in 1958, will continue to operate this summer as construction work continues on the new site.
