The visiting St. Paul Lady Wildcats got the best of the Gibbon Lady Buffaloes in the first game of the season on the court in Gibbon, 63-40, on Thursday, December 4, and the Central City ladies came to Gibbon the following night and returned home with a 62-16 win over the Gibbon ladies.
The Wood River boys basketball team finished 1-1 after battling Sandy Creek on the road and Centura in Wood River, respectively, in the first two games of the new season on Thursday and Saturday, December 4 and 6. The Eagles were bested by Sandy Creek in the season opener, 42-69, but snuck past LouPlatte Conference rival Centura, 42-38.
