On Wednesday, November 8, nineteen Shelton FFA members traveled to Broken Bow for the district livestock evaluation competition. Members used selection skills to place livestock animals in market and breeding classes for beef cattle, sheep, and goats.
With its 47 members, the Centura FFA program looks to have a prosperous and busy year.
“This year, the Shelton FFA Chapter has 42 members in grades seven through twelve,” began Shelton FFA Advisor and District 8 Nebraska Chairperson Hannah Horak of the chapter under her guidance. “We have over thirty members in grades nine through twelve, which accounts for about 45 percent of the high school in Shelton.”
The Gibbon mock trial team began competitions on Wednesday, October 25. This year, Gibbon has two teams that are competing. The case this year is a criminal one, with a 19-year-old being accused of taking a selfie that contained classified government information. He then shared this image with an anarchist who posted it to a website. Teams have to read the case materials — witness statements and evidence — and then prepare both sides of the case.
The Lady Bulldog volleyball team traveled back to the Nebraska State Volleyball Tournament for their second consecutive appearance to compete against the number one ranked team, the Cambridge Trojans, on Thursday, November 2.
