Lewis, Snyder to receive Nebraska FFA awards

Next week, two Shelton FFA members will receive honors from the Nebraska FFA Association. On Wednesday, April 7, FFA seniors Ryan Lewis and Jacob Snyder will be awarded their State FFA Degrees. The award ceremony will be live-streamed as the Nebraska State FFA Convention is virtual this year. The State FFA Degree is the highest degree the state association can bestow upon a member. Each year members are awarded the degree based upon their comprehensive Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Program.

Shelton speech team hosts annual showcase

The Shelton speech team hosted its annual speech showcase on Tuesday, March 2, for family and friends and featured a large number of performances by team members. Just a few of the performances that night were, counter clockwise, top left, Lane Demilt offered “Crash Positions” in the Humorous Prose category; Kiersten Bennett presented a Persuasive speech called, “Tattoos,” and a Humorous Prose piece called, “Teenage Superhero;” the Oral Interpretation of Drama (OID) performed “Courting 101,” by Taylor Lewis, Coby Reutzel, and Xavier Hellerich; “Alien Baby,” was the name of the Duet performed by Breanna Plihal and Skyler Summers; Trace Lessig performed a Persuasive speech on social media and a Humorous Prose presentation titled, “Jeb and the Bank Loan;” and Noah Summers performed an Extemporaneous speech about current events. Also performed at the showcase was an Extemporaneous speech by Jose Montanez; “Rorschach Test,” an Informative speech by Samantha Snyder; Rose Fox’s “Mississippi Mirror,” a Serious Prose entry; Samantha Snyder’s Poetry presentation, “Different;” “Pennies,” a Persuasive speech by Steven Snyder; “Emergency Protocol,” a Serious Prose presentation by Samantha Snyder; a Duet titled “Airline Calamity” presented by Angel Lehn and Jaylea Pope; and an OID performance of “Bobby Wilson Can Eat His Own Face,” by Angel Lehn, Jaylea Pope, Will Roe, and Lane Demilt.
