Buffalo golfers fourth at Red Cloud Invitational

Wood River’s track teams made it a complete and convincing sweep by winning both team titles at the Shelton Invitational track meet Thursday, April 15. The Lady Eagles accumulated 90 points, winning by eight over Fullerton’s second-place finish, while the Eagle boys piled up 133 points, ending with a comfortable lead over Shelton’s runner-up total of 109. The meet included nine girls’ teams and ten boys’ teams. Wood River’s boys won six events, two of which were relays, and the girls had one relay among their three event championships. Jenna Rauert and Logan Turek each claimed two individual championships for the Eagles.
“This year our strength and conditioning students were able to bring in approximately $1,775.00 in donations from our community,” reported Amanda Thober, Shelton P. E. and strength and conditioning teacher, of the Lift-A-Thon held at the school on Thursday, April 8.
The Kearney Catholic Star boys and girls soccer teams, including athletes from Gibbon High School, began a full week of action last week with both teams winning their respective side of the Seward Tournament on Monday, April 6, and then returned home to face Aurora on Wednesday, April 7, and closed the week on the road at Lutheran High.
With two top-ten finishes the Gibbon boys golf team finished a windy day at the Wood River Invitational (which was played at Centura Hills Golf Course) in sixth place with a score of 448.
