Bulldog speech team members earn medals at Minden

The Class C District 1 wrestling meet at Boone Central on Saturday, February 13, saw the five-man Wood River wrestling team score 49 team points placing ninth out of 14 teams.
Five of the Gibbon wrestling team’s competitors qualified to advance to district action after wrestling in the Class C-4B Sub-district meet held at Amherst on Saturday, February 6. The top four finishers in each weight division advance to the district meet held at Valentine. Buffaloes Ruben Hernandez, Jose Escandon, Andres Aguilar, Jesus Hernandez and Daniel Yepez qualified for the district meet and a chance to wrestle at the state meet in Omaha. As a team the Buffaloes placed fourth.
St. Paul and Ord felt the sting of the Lady Eagles’ brand of basketball during games in the LouPlatte Conference’s annual tournament, the final games of which were played at Ravenna as the Lady Eagles brought home the championship trophy. St. Paul fell to the Eagle ladies in the semi-final round by 16 points, 47-31. In the championship game, Ord lost to Wood River to the tune of 53-42.
