Students in one of the Centura eighth grade cycle classes are participating in a robotics unit. The students built a robotic vehicle, learned to operate it, and will eventually program the vehicle. A small obstacle course was established to see how fast each vehicle could navigate it. The fastest time was 22 seconds, with the slowest being 56 seconds. The next step in the unit will be to build a more complex robot with more motors and functions to control. The students will then work on block coding to create a program that will autonomously drive their robot. Pictured are students Logan Stahlnecker and Zavery Jensen. The robotics unit is taught by John Hadenfeldt. (–courtesy photos
