Centura boys champs, girls runners-up at Gibbon

Kyra Wooden and Eli Wooden had identical results at the Ron Priebe Invitational track meet at Gibbon Thursday, April 22. Each one won two individual events and they each ran a leg on a winning relay as Centura’s boys claimed the team championship trophy, and the girls were the runner-up team at the six-team meet. Kyra claimed the upper hand in the duo battle, however, since she added a second-place finish during her day, meaning she was in on 38 of the team’s 115 points, while Eli ”only” ended with 30 points, winning all three events in which he was entered. Centura’s girls won four events and placed second in four more while the boys took the top spot in seven events and were the runners-up in six more, ending with 171 points, three more than St. Paul’s runner-up total of 168. St. Paul took the girls’ team crown with 145 points. Kenesaw, Gibbon, Shelton, and Ravenna were other teams at the meet.

Gibbon Public Schools to honor the lunch heroes serving healthy meals

Between preparing healthy food, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies, and offering service with a smile, Gibbon nutrition professionals have a lot on their plate. To celebrate their hard work and commitment, Gibbon schools will celebrate School Lunch Hero Day on May 7. This day, celebrated annually since 2013, was designated by The School Nutrition Association and Jarrett Krosoczka, author of the “Lunch Lady” graphic novel series. School Lunch Hero Day provides an opportunity for parents, students, school staff and communities to thank those who provide healthy meals to nearly 30 million of America’s students each school day.
