Eagle track and field teams finish LPC meet in sixth place

Both the Wood River boys and girls track and field teams turned in sixth place finishes at the LouPlatte Conference meet held at Central City on Friday, May 2. The Lady Eagles put together 31 team points and the Eagle boys compiled 39 team points for their sixth place finishes. The St. Paul ladies won the girls side of the meet with 117 team points and the Central City boys totalled 132 team points for first place.

Buffaloes weather Kearney Catholic golf invitational

Gibbon’s boys golf team competed against a large, tough roster of teams from across the region at the Kearney Catholic Invitational held at Meadowlark Hills Golf Course in Kearney on Tuesday, April 29. The Buffaloes finished the day 16th with a team score of 437 among the 17 teams taking part. Adams Central posted the lowest team score, a 297, for first place.

Nebraska corn farmers poised to plant 10.6 million acres in 2025

According to the March Prospective Plantings report released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Nebraska corn farmers are expected to plant 10.6 million acres of corn in 2025. If realized, this would translate to a significant economic investment of nearly $3.1 billion in the state’s economy over a two-month period, as calculated by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s crop budgets. This investment includes inputs such as seed, fuel and fertilizer, but excludes land costs, labor and equipment.
