Eagle track teams wrap up regular season at Centura Invitational

The Wood River boys track and field team turned in a second place finish and the Lady Eagles tied for fourth place among the nine teams competing at the final regular season meet of the season on Thursday, May 8, the Centura Invitational. The Eagles totalled 85 team points, second to first place Doniphan/Trumbull’s 145 points. The Wood River ladies scored 66 team points and the Doniphan/Trumbull ladies took first place with 103 points.

Eagle golfers tee off at GICC and LPC meets last week

“The Grand Island Central Catholic Invite had some fierce competition this year,” noted Wood River head golf coach Jon Kuecker of the invite his team competed at on Tuesday, May 6, at Indianhead Golf Course. “Each year it seems to bring in lower and lower scores and the fight for the individuals and team titles were a great match.”

Gibbon track and field competes at LouPlatte Conference meet

Gibbon’s girls and boys track and field teams spent Friday, May 2, in Central City competing at the LouPlatte Conference meet and found the going rough as both teams finished the day in ninth place among the nine teams taking part. Each team scored nine team points. The St. Paul girls built up 117 points to win the women’s side and Central City won the men’s side of the meet with 132 team points.
