Gibbon’s Darian Dorsey will be moving on to the state track and field championships with his second place finish in the 3200 meter run at the district meet last Thursday in Kearney.

Dorsey to represent Gibbon at state track and field meet

Gibbon sophomore Darian Dorsey emerged from the District C-8 Track and Field meet on Thursday, May 15, held at Kearney Catholic High School, as the lone qualifier for the state meet in Omaha. As a team at the district meet, the Gibbon boys finished in eighth place among the nine teams taking part with 21 team points. Kearney Catholic piled up 107 points to win the boys side of the meet. The Gibbon girls likewise had 21 team points and finished in ninth place out of the nine teams at the district meet. The Kearney Catholic girls won the girls’ side of the meet with 114 team points.

Gibbon FFA members enjoy second annual banquet

The Gibbon FFA Chapter hosted the second annual banquet on Friday, April 25, to celebrate the achievements of the 2024-2025 year. Fourteen members received their Discovery Degrees and 18 received their Greenhand Degrees. Over 100 students were recognized for competing in leadership and career development contests. The chapter awarded $5,000 in total Friends of the FFA Scholarships to 10 outstanding seniors and welcomed two new honorary members, Melissa Franzen and Maverick Widdowson. The evening also included retiring the seniors jackets and installing the 2025-2026 officer team.
