Both the Gibbon boys and girls track and field teams finished in sixth place among the eight teams taking part in the Ron Priebe/Gibbon Invitational on Thursday, April 24. The Gibbon boys scored 51 points on the day as a team with the St. Paul boys compiling 120 points to win the boys side of the meet. The Lady Buffaloes tallied 36.33 team points as St. Paul’s 145 points won the girls portion of the day.
Members of Wood River’s boys and girls track teams competed against a host of athletes at the Doniphan/ Trumbull Invitational on Tuesday, April 22, where the Eagles placed seventh with 12 team points among the eight teams competing while the Doniphan/Trumbull boys won the meet with 150 team points. The Lady Eagles finished the day in sixth place with 30 team points out of seven teams and host Doniphan/Trumbull’s girls won the girls side of the meet with 150 points.
Shelton’s girls and boys track and field teams traveled the short distance west to Gibbon for the Gibbon Invitational held on Thursday, April 24. The Shelton ladies finished the day in fourth place with 62.67 team points. St. Paul piled up 145 team points for first place as a team. The Shelton boys had 41 team points and finished in seventh place. The St. Paul boys scored 120 team points for first place.
Dry conditions look to persist across the Cornhusker state as producers prepare to begin spring field work and it may lead to an equally dry summer according to Eric Hunt, of the Nebraska State Climate Office and University of Nebraska Extension.
