Gibbon’s boys and girls cross country teams journeyed to Centura Hills Golf Course near Cairo on Tuesday, September 8, to compete in the Centura cross country invitational. The boys placed tenth with 119 team points.
On September 10, 2026, seven members and eight former members celebrated the 65th anniversary of the Hither and Yon Club at the Shelton Community Room. A wonderful afternoon of renewing friendships and recalling many memories was had. The afternoon went by much too quickly, but was enjoyed by everyone. Opal Meyer won the on-time prize and there were three charter members present, Beverly Thomas, LaJean Kroeger, and Carolyn Woodman. The group was very appreciative to the Shelton Clipper for the article in the newspaper on Thursday, September 3. Those in attendance were, front row, left to right, Elaine Wiseman, Beverly Thomas, Donna Schomburg, Opal Meyer, and Kay Gill; and back row, LaJean Kroeger, Mary Ann Homan, Ruth Hahn, Carolyn Frazier, Pat O’Brien, Sharon Riley, Carolyn Woodman, and Nancy Schofield. The Warriors of Lincoln Lutheran came to Wood River on Friday, September 11, to square off with the Eagle football team and went home with a 35-6 win.
After battling the Wilcox/Hildreth Falcons to an 8-8 draw in the first quarter, the Shelton Bulldog football team was unable to keep up with the visitors and the Falcons swooped in for a 48-28 win before returning home on Friday, September 11.
