An invitational and a dual wound up regular season play for the Gibbon boys golf team last week. The Buffaloes traveled to the ten-team Cozad Invitational on Monday, May 11, and then battled the Wood River boys in a dual held at Centura Hills Golf Course on Tuesday, May 12.
The Gibbon Board of Education covered agenda items such as summer work to be done, a change in livestreaming school athletics and other monthly housekeeping items at the board’s regular monthly meeting held on Thursday, May 14.
Community Service Day was held in Gibbon on Monday, May 4, with students for Gibbon Public School and members of the Gibbon City Council working on various projects throughout the community and doing odd jobs for residents who requested their aid. Some of the projects done by the volunteers included planting nine trees at Rosen Park, painting the deck at Valley View Municipal Golf Course, helping out at Rowe Sanctuary, and helping to plant a plot for the Gibbon Food Pantry at Little Town Gardens. “The Wood River boys finished as runner up at the Centura Invitational on Thursday, May 7, led by double gold medals by seniors Hector Bonilla Betancourt in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs, Jace Martin in the 200 and 400 meter dashes, and Madden Brabec in the pole vault and 110 meter hurdles,” reported Wood River head coach Matt Cantrell.
The dancers of Shelton Just For Kix delivered unforgettable performances at the 2026 Together We Dance Nationals held April 29 through May 3 in Rochester, Minnesota. The annual event brought together thousands of dancers and families from across the country for one of the largest dance competitions in the Midwest.
