Centura Legion Juniors win Twin River Tournament

The Centura Legion Post 333 Junior baseball team participated in the Twin River Tournament held at David City on Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7, and walked away with the championship plaque. On Saturday they defeated Albion, 16-6. Then on Sunday they had two games. In the first game, Centura Post 333 defeated David City 7-6. The final game was against Twin Rivers and Centura again won, 11-0. Team members are, front row, left to right, Kainen Jordan, Braxton Young, Jack Piersol, Joel Johnson, and Lane Dvorak; and back row, coach Mark Johnson, coach Heath Hadenfeldt, Colt Hadenfeldt, Gavin Lamphiear, Riley Spiehs, Jayden Peterson, Jax Campbell, Luis Flores, coach Kevin Dvorak, and coach Dan Piersol. Hermann recognized as 2026 Agriculture in the Classroom Champion Educator

The Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation has recognized 40 educators from across the state as 2026 Nebraska Agriculture in the Classroom Champions. Sponsored by the Nebraska Corn Board, the Nebraska Agriculture in the Classroom Champions program highlights teachers who utilize Agriculture in the Classroom resources and programming to connect students with Nebraska agriculture.

Gibbon’s Heikkinen, Weldon, and Smith selected for NAYI

The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) received a record-breaking number of applications from high school students wanting to attend this year’s Nebraska Agricultural Youth Institute (NAYI) with 252 students being selected to attend this year’s event, including Keaton Heikkinen, Landi Weldon and Trace Smith, all of Gibbon.
