In the season opener at Minden Thursday, June18, Wood River’s Legion Juniors initiated the season on a positive note by getting past the host team 11-7.
Scoring 10 in the first game of a double-header at Wood River Friday, June 19, then seven in the nightcap, enabled the Shelton-Gibbon Legion Juniors to go home with a double win, 10-2 and 7-2. Both S/G teams hosted Overton on the previous night, but no details of that outing had been made available by press time.
Twenty-seven seniors will be promoted during commencement ceremonies held on Saturday, August 1, at 3:00 p.m. for the Shelton High Class of 2020.
Social distancing is still the rule, even during the playing of the National Anthem at the weekend’s Juniors game at Wood River. Legion teams from Wood River, Shelton/Gibbon, and Dannebrog/Cairo/Boelus were finally able to take the field last week for summer baseball action. Not dimmed, however, is the prospect of the season’s opening games this week.
