GICC hands Buffaloes second loss

Centura’s football team invaded the Bluehawk territory of Hastings St. Cecilia Friday, September 18, and left with a twentypoint win. The Bluehawks managed seven points while the Centurions enjoyed an evening of 27. Although specific scoring information had not been made available, Centura’s ground game cranked out an average of over seven yards per carry. Eli Wooden led that charge with 87 yards, and Boston Caspersen added 56. They each carried the ball nine times. Wooden completed six of the 13 passes he threw, one of those gaining 47 yards in the hands of Troy Rasmussen. Quentin Morris had one catch that covered 11 yards.
At the volleyball triangular hosted by Wilcox-Hildreth Tuesday, September 15, Shelton’s Lady Bulldogs got past Axtell in two sets, but fell in two sets to the hosting Lady Falcons.
At the cross country meet hosted by Ravenna at the city’s golf course Thursday, September 17, Hensley Alvarado and Victoria Castro, along with Omar Tinajero, Dylan Alvarado, Jose Zarraga, Alex Wagner, and Brandon White ran for Wood River in the meet that featured 68 runners in the girls race and 114 in the race for the boys. A total of 15 schools were represented at the meet. “It was a beautiful day to run a challenging course,” said Coach Gretchen Wiseman. “The temperature was perfect.”
