Wood River Post 314 Seniors’ season ends at district tourney
The Wood River Seniors Legion baseball team battled some familiar teams, and the summer heat, at the C5 district baseball tournament in Albion over the weekend.
Dannebrog/Cairo/Boelus Ponies win LouPlatte Pony Tournament
The Dannebrog/Cairo/Boelus (DCB) Pony team won the Lou-Platte Pony Tournament held in Gibbon on Wednesday, July 2. DCB made it to the championship game by defeating Loup City, 11-8; Central Valley/Palmer, 24-9; and Gibbon, 8-5. DCB then faced Ravenna in the championship game and won by a score of 11-2. Gibbon Blue Little League team finishes LP Tournament in third place
The Gibbon Blue Little League team went 12-3 this year and closed the season with a third place finish in the LouPlatte Little League Tournament. Wood River Post 314 Juniors get two late season wins
The Wood River Juniors found the win column twice over the last series of games with wins over Hi-Line Post 290 to end the regular season, and Doniphan-Trumbull-Giltner Post 300, in the first round of the C-6 Juniors district tournament. The win over Doniphan avenged a loss to them just four days prior.
