Track and field athletes from Gibbon, Shelton and Wood River Rural high schools tested their skills and talents against the best in the state at the 2025 NSAA State Track and Field Championships Friday and Saturday, May 23 and 24, at Burke Stadium in Omaha with varying results.
Shelton’s Jaxson Ohlman made the trip to Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus to compete in the Class D NSAA Boys Golf Championships on Wednesday, May 28, and Thursday, May 29, where he finished in 25th place in a field of 101 competitors. Ohlman fired a 46 on the front nine holes on day one of the state meet and a 42 on the back nine for a total of 88 and went on to turn in a 43 on his first nine holes on the second day of the meet and 41 on the second for an 84. He ended the tournament with a total of 172. “Jaxson has proven himself time and time again,” stated Shelton head boys golf coach Alice Rabbe. “He has worked hard to work on the mental aspect and play through anything! Jaxson Ohlman and the Bulldog golf team competed at the D-1 District meet held at Kirkman’s Lakeview Golf Course in Humboldt on Tuesday, May 20, where Ohlman qualified for state competition. As a team, the Bulldogs placed eighth out of 13 teams in the district and posted a team score of 415.
Six Clipper Country athletes came away from the state track and field meet with medals to add to their collections. The Wood River Eagles had to medalists, while the Shelton Bulldogs had four athletes finish in the top eight at the two day meet in Omaha on Friday and Saturday.
