On Tuesday, September 28, the Gibbon FBLA officers attended the Nebraska FBLA Fall Leadership Conference. The theme for this year was “Success Starts Here” and it was held in person at the Holiday Inn in Kearney. The officers attended different workshops, including Memorable Media, Nebraska Foundation Trust, Internships in High School, Work-based Learning and many more. The keynote speaker was Kevin Kush, 21 year football coach and teacher at Boys Town in Omaha. Overall, the officers had a jam-packed day of learning about their officer positions and the benefits of Nebraska FBLA. The Lady Centurion volleyball team split its games on Thursday, September 30, at a triangular held at Minden.
The two-day Hastings St. Cecilia Tournament on Tuesday, September 28, and Thursday, September 30, proved challenging for the Wood River volleyball team as they fell victim to the Lawrence-Nelson Lady Raiders in the first of three contests on Tuesday, 25-19, 18- 25 and 24-26; were defeated by Hastings St. Cecilia, 12-25 and 15-25; and dropped the third match of the day to Superior, 12-25 and 16-25.
Braxton Smith passed for 130 yards and two touchdowns and Jesus Hernandez amassed 179 yards rushing and had two touchdowns as the Gibbon Buffaloes dismantled the visiting Twin River Titans 41-0 on Friday, October 1, to improve to 4-2 on the season.
