Wood River Volley-Kidz hold scrimmage

Nearly forty pre-kindergarten through second grade girls recently participated in a three-week learning experience organized by Wood River Elementary ELL teacher and member of the Wood River Youth Sports Board, Mandi Morgan, called Volley-Kidz. “The Youth Sports Board’s goal is to improve participation in sports at our school,” Morgan explained. “We felt there weren't many opportunities for the younger girls and so I created this program to facilitate our goal. Each week we played volleyball skill games to learn about setting, footwork, passing and serving the ball. The girls used volley-lites, beach balls, and balloons to practice their skills. The preschool through second graders met for three Sunday afternoons in October, with the last week being a scrimmage. The future of Eagle volleyball is bright!” Morgan voiced her appreciation for those who helped with the Volley-Kidz, saying, “I could not have made this happen without all of the awesome moms that volunteered their time to help out.” (–courtesy photo)

The Soctober Student Action Team (SSAT) put together a presentation for the elementary Monday assembly on October 18 and presented it to the student body that morning. “WRES is working to prove that even the smallest acts of love, like donating a pair of socks, can make a big difference in the lives of our neighbors who are in need,” said Wood River Elementary Principal Kelly Klanecky.
