A fourth quarter surge was needed for a win when the Gibbon Buffaloes traveled west to Bridgeport on Friday, September 17, as the Bulldogs gave the Gibbon gridmen all they could handle in the first three quarters, before the Buffs pulled out a 28-20 victory.
Centura’s cross country runners were among the runners at the Ravenna Invitational held on Thursday, September 16.
Another week full of softball was played last week by the Centura-Central Valley Diamonds beginning with a triangular with Hastings St. Cecilia and Southern Valley on Tuesday, September 14. The Diamonds were defeated by St. Cecilia 11-4, and blanked by Southern Valley 5-0.
Centura High’s volleyball team went 2-2 in games played last week. The Lady Centurions fell victim to St. Paul, 21-25, 17-25 and 16-25 on Tuesday, September 14, and then, at the Gibbon Invitational on Saturday, September 18, the Centura ladies fell to Burwell in three sets, 11-25, 21-25 and 21-25, but righted the ship in the next two matches, downing host Gibbon 25-17, 25-22 and by getting past Southern Valley, 15-25, 25-18, and 25-21.
The Bluehawks of Hastings St. Cecilia proved too much for the Centurion football team on Friday, September 17, and went home with a 28-14 victory.
