The number one seeded Shelton Lady Bulldogs far outpaced their opponents, fourth seed Blue Hill and second seeded Kenesaw, in the D1-8 Subdistrict Tournament held on Tuesday, February 17, and Thursday, February 19, respectively.
Junior Ila Jurgens battled her way to a fourth place finish and in doing so, made Gibbon wrestling history at the 2026 NSAA State Girls Wrestling Championships held at the CHI Health Center Arena on Tuesday and Wednesday, February 17 and 18.
Duo on quest for gold, Martin seeks fourth state wrestling meet medal
Shelton Bulldog junior wrestler Dominick Larraga made it through the district wrestling meet with another weekend of wrestling ahead of him. Dominick placed third in the 175 pound class at the Class D-3 district wrestling tournament at Shelby last Friday and Saturday. He returns to the state wrestling tournament after placing fifth in the state meet last year in the 157 pound class.
The Gibbon wrestling team tied for third place in the Class C-4 district tournament team standings, and qualified six wrestlers for the state tournament in Omaha this week. The district tournament was held last Saturday, February 14, at Broken Bow.
