Junior Ila Jurgens bettered her season record to 31-1 and fought her way to a second place finish to qualify for the state meet as the Gibbon Lady Buffalo wrestlers competed at the Class B District 2 meet held at Columbus Lakeview on Friday and Saturday, February 6 and 7. The Gibbon ladies finished the meet with 40.5 team points in 16th place among the 33 teams at the district meet. The Battle Creek girls took first place with 163 team points.
At the NSAA Girls Class B District 3 meet held at Weeping Water on Friday and Saturday, February 6 and 7, Shelton junior Grace Dack battled her way to a second place finish which secured her a spot at the state girls wrestling meet next week. Grace improved to 39-5 on the season at the district meet.
For the fifth consecutive season, the Shelton Lady Bulldog basketball team brushed aside the competition, Deshler, Red Cloud and Silver Lake, to earn the Twin Valley Conference championship last week. A few members of this year’s squad served as student managers for the team when they claimed the first of five conference championships in 2022.
