Lady Centura basketball team tops Cardinals and Broncos

Centura’s Lady Centurion basketball team recorded wins over Doniphan/Trumbull and Centennial last week on the court. In a game scheduled originally for Tuesday, January 9, and played on Tuesday, January 16, the Centura ladies shot down Doniphan/Trumbull, 46-26 on the road, and then ran past Centennial on Saturday, January 20, 54-35, at home.

Wood River girls wrestlers take LPC crown

A third place finish at the John Higgins Invitational at Lexington on Friday, January 19, was followed by every member of the Wood River girls wrestling team who wrestled at the conference meet earning a first or second place medal at the LouPlatte Conference meet and the team finished the day as LouPlatte Conference Champions. According to head coach Christian Thompson, the Lady Eagles defeated the next closest competitor (Gibbon) by 117 points. Wood River also set a new school record for team points in a tournament with 190.

Lady Bulldogs make quick work of Giltner

The Shelton Lady Bulldogs got their first look at the newest member of the Twin Valley Conference (TVC) on Tuesday, January 16, as they travelled to Giltner for a hardwood match up with the Giltner Lady Hornets The Lady Bulldogs opened the game up on fire from the opening tipoff as Shelton piled up a 27 point first quarter, while their defense held Giltner to just two points. The Lady Hornets would double their first quarter points in the second quarter as they were able to add four points to their score in the second quarter, but were unable to contain the Lady Bulldogs as they continued to find the bucket and added 11 second quarter points to take a sizeable 38-6 lead into the halftime locker room break.
