The Gibbon lunch ladies held their Christmas Spirit Week last week at Gibbon Public School. The week was filled with many giggles, comments, and smiles from the ladies, students, and staff. The district extended the holiday break for students beginning last Friday, December 18. The extended time is intended to give students and staff relief from the stress of COVID-19. With a number of students being quarantined due to COVID-19, the Gibbon boys junior varsity and varsity basketball teams have cancelled several of their scheduled games, including last Friday’s contest with Arcadia/Loup City and Tuesday’s game with Silver Lake. Gibbon High Athletic Director Jeff Montgomery explained that although the games will hopefully be rescheduled, it is difficult to do.
Shelton grapplers journeyed to Wood River on Friday, December 11, to compete in the annual Wood River Invitational. Shelton’s two-man team battled a large field of bigger schools but managed to finish 13th out of a field of 16 teams.
The Wood River girls basketball team traveled to Centura to play a game which went their way by 25 points with the final of 69-44.
The Silverback junior high girls basketball team, made up of players from the Wood River and Shelton junior high schools, showed off their skills at their home tournament in Wood River over the weekend.
