Gibbon’s Heikkinen, Weldon, and Smith selected for NAYI

The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) received a record-breaking number of applications from high school students wanting to attend this year’s Nebraska Agricultural Youth Institute (NAYI) with 252 students being selected to attend this year’s event, including Keaton Heikkinen, Landi Weldon and Trace Smith, all of Gibbon.

Brabec selected for Nebraska Elite 11 Veterinarian Program

Madden Brabeck, a 2026 Wood River Rural High School graduate, is among the twentyone students from across the Cornhusker State selected for the newest cohort of the Nebraska Elite 11 Veterinarian Program, a highly competitive University of Nebraska–Lincoln initiative designed to address the state’s shortage of food animal veterinarians.
