After years of discussion and consideration, Gibbon’s farmers market has finally found its footing and become a community staple. According to Matt Smallcomb, Gibbon City Administrator, “The idea for a farmers market has been one that’s been tossed around for quite some time. However, it was last year, with the help of fellowship students from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, that we realized it needed to be bumped up on our priority list for the benefit of our residents.”
Verne Hickok, a 92-year-old Korean War era veteran who resides in Cairo, was recently notified that he was among recipients of Step Forward Awards that honors and recognizes volunteers across Nebraska for their dedication to making Nebraska communities better through service. Hickok was recognized as the 2024 Step Forward Veteran Volunteer honoree.
Next Monday, October 7, is the final day for public nominations for the Shelton Athletic Hall of Fame and Baseball Hall of Fame 2024 classes.
