Was the 2023 Lincoln Highway Festival and Car Show in Shelton the final edition of the once annual event? Presently, there are no plans to hold either the festival or car show in 2024.
The 2024 Howard County Fair is scheduled to be held Saturday, July 13, through Wednesday, July 17, in St. Paul.
Field work continues and irrigation is underway for Clipper Country producers and crops look good overall according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service’s weekly Nebraska Crop Progress and Condition report. For the week ending on Sunday, June 30, the report indicated that corn condition was rated at 52% good, 28% excellent, and 16% fair. Recent rains, along with a few days of sunshine, have contributed to the rapid growth of corn crops in the area, which look likely to be “as high as an elephant’s eye by the Fourth of July.” (–photos by Dennis Walker)
