The Shelton Board of Education met for its regular monthly meeting on Monday, May 16, where the board heard a list of spring and summer projects planned for the school building, an update on the purchase of a bus, and hiring of a new custodian, results of a staff well being survey, and about principal Jeff Kenton’s certification.
Memorial Day services will be held across Clipper Country on Monday, May 30, “remembering all who served.” Services at Shelton Cemetery will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday followed at 10:45 by services at Gibbon Riverside Cemetery.
Gibbon’s City Council made a major change to the plans for the new city hall/fire hall/community center plan at its regular monthly meeting held on Monday, May 16.
Due to the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 30, the Clipper office in Shelton will be closed. The deadline for all news and advertising for the June 2 issue of the Clipper is tomorrow, Friday, May 27, at 12:00 noon.
Incumbent Ivan Klein was re-elected to the Buffalo County Board of Commissioners District 1, according to preliminary results posted to the Buffalo County Election Commissioners website from the primary election held on Tuesday, May 10. That local race was surrounded by state-wide races that included the race for governor, the Congressional District 3 race, and the race for the office of the secretary of state.
