Union Pacific coal train derails in Gibbon

On Sunday morning, July 7, at approximately 2:00 a.m., 15 Union Pacific train cars of an eastbound Union Pacific train carrying coal derailed along Highway 30 in Gibbon, spilling their payload along the tracks. No one was injured in the derailment, according to Union Pacific spokesperson Robyyn Tysver, who also indicated that the incident is under investigation.
