Gibbon credits Rural Prosperity Nebraska program for grant awards

Gibbon recently received a $435,000 downtown revitalization grant from Nebraska’s Department of Economic Development to update the fronts of local businesses. As the latest milestone in a longer journey of community growth, local leaders attribute the grant to Rural Prosperity Nebraska’s Entrepreneurial Communities Activation Process program.

Lineups for local elections set

With the passing of the March 2 filing deadline for non-incumbent candidates who wish to run for local offices, the lineup of candidates is set. Many races will be moved to the November general election rather than the May 12 primary due to a certain number of candidates required to have filed.

“Witnesses to the Wonderful Cross” March 22 in Wood River

The Wood River Area Community Choir will be presenting a Easter cantata titled, “Witnesses to the Wonderful Cross” on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church located at 408 W. 11th Street in Wood River. The cantata was created by David Guthrie and music arranged and orchestrated by David Williamson. Additional music by Tom Long and Allen Pote was incorporated into the cantata by the director.
