Cold winter mornings lead to a late rising sun on the horizon. It marks the sounds of kids tromping off school buses, hustling and bustling, rushing into school, some with smiles, hoods and hats covering faces, a few staring straight forward seemingly wondering what the day’s events will bring. Others look at their phones while they blindly walk through the hallways. Teachers greet students as they scurry in, ensuring everyone sees a friendly face to begin the day. The smell of bacon lingers through the air of the cafeteria, where breakfast awaits all students. What a wonderful place the halls of Wood River Rural Schools are!
