Area corn benefitting from recent moisture

Corn fields in Clipper Country have used recent rains to stretch toward the sky quickly and have begun to show tassels. The United States Department of Agriculture crop progress report last week reported that, on average, ten percent of corn has reached the silking stage, behind 18% last year and equal to the ten percent for the five year average.
