Diverse crowd turns out for Shelton swimming pool meeting
A public input meeting held at the Village of Shelton Community Room drew a large number of Shelton community members on Wednesday, September 27, to listen to consulting engineer Larry Steele and funding specialist Megan Shada, both of Miller and Associates Consulting Engineers, P.C., as they presented a large amount of information that pertained to the subject of either repairing the community’s existing swimming pool facility or finding ways to finance a new pool and more.

Gibbon council sets tax asking, 2023-24 budget
At its regular monthly meeting held on Monday, September 18, the Gibbon City Council worked through an agenda that included an ordinance to increase residential garbage rates, setting the 2023-24 property tax request, considering a one percent additional increase in the allowable growth rate, and adopting a 2023-24 budget. Council members also heard an update on the recent fire at the wastewater treatment plant.

Staffing shortages, low numbers, and changing demographics recently prompted the decision to not reopen the Gibbon Head Start program this year after more than thirty years, according to Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska Director Lisa Giboney.
