Shelton’s Board of Education met for its regular monthly meeting on Monday, March 9, and heard of a number of projects from administrators as well as approved a new superintendent contract and salary among other agenda items presented to the board.
Members of the Gibbon Board of Education met for their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 10, with a small agenda to work through.
Gibbon recently received a $435,000 downtown revitalization grant from Nebraska’s Department of Economic Development to update the fronts of local businesses. As the latest milestone in a longer journey of community growth, local leaders attribute the grant to Rural Prosperity Nebraska’s Entrepreneurial Communities Activation Process program.
With the passing of the March 2 filing deadline for non-incumbent candidates who wish to run for local offices, the lineup of candidates is set. Many races will be moved to the November general election rather than the May 12 primary due to a certain number of candidates required to have filed.
