It’s harvest time in the Heartland

Combines, trucks, and tractors are becoming more and more prevalent across the region as harvest operations gain steam. Producers have taken advantage of recent warm, dry weather to get into their fields. Motorists should use caution when approaching harvest equipment on country roads as well as highways with the increase of harvest machinery moving from place to place.

Wood River Senior Center is not the senior center of yesteryear

Located in the heart of the Wood River business district, the Wood River Senior Center has welcomed in area residents for many years at its location at 120 East Ninth Street and has evolved into a social destination for a number of members of the community for not only the outstanding baked goods and coffee served, but for the numerous activities offered in addition to being a meeting place for renewing friendships on a daily or weekly basis.

Shelton High School Athletic Hall of Fame seeking nominations

Now in the eleventh year, the Shelton High School Athletic Hall of Fame is seeking inductees for the Class of 2023. The Shelton High School Athletic Hall of Fame includes ten board members from all eras and decades of Shelton High School. Current board members include Tom McBride, Tren Miller, Ed Lowe, Jon Pearson, John Dority, Steve Glenn, Deb Hammond, Paula Mayfield, Ryan Province, and Paul Stroh. The board is also seeking to replace Glenn Schanou who recently resigned from the board.
