The State of Nebraska was the victim of bouts of dangerously high wind gusts on Thursday of last week and on Sunday, causing damage to some trees, like the one pictured in Gibbon’s Davis Park and causing hazardous driving conditions both days as well as fanning fires burning in different parts of the state. The National Weather Service in Hastings recorded wind speeds of 74 mph at Doniphan, 63 mph at the Grand Island Airport on Sunday, and 51 mph at the Kearney Airport. (—photo by Dennis Walker)
“Witnesses to the Wonderful Cross” will be the Easter cantata presented by the Wood River Area Community Choir this Sunday, March 22, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church located at 408 W. 11th ood aneated Street in Wood River. The cantata was created by David Guthrie and music arranged and orchestrated music by David Williamson. Additional by Tom Long and Allen Pote was incorporated into the cantata by the director.
“Rebootilization” by Alan Haehnel is the play chosen as the spring play to be performed at Gibbon Public School later this month.
Members of the Gibbon Volunteer Fire Department held their annual banquet on Saturday, March 14, and recognized many members for their years of service to the department and community.
