Over the past ninty-three years, the Motor Inn along Highway 30 in Shelton has seen different incarnations and many different owners beginning with E. C. Warren. According to Mr. Warren’s obituary in the August 22, 1946, Shelton Clipper, “In 1927, he built the Motor Inn Service Station, restaurant, garage and refreshment room.” Cursory research uncovered a newspaper article from March 17, 1932, indicating E.C. Warren continued to own the Motor Inn at that time as a car he was driving was left there after an accident.

The Gibbon City Council met for its regular monthly meeting on Monday, September 21, and covered a number of routine agenda items, but the council and mayor provided information on the proposed fire hall/city hall/community room project and ballot proposals for the November 3 election.

Candidates and voters alike are preparing for the upcoming November 3 general election, including in Clipper Country. In future issues, the Clipper will feature information from candidates in contested races in our area. Each candidate in a contested race was contacted by mail, email or phone according to information provided by respective county election commissioners in order to offer them opportunity to get their message out to voters.

SPS sets annual budget for 2020-21 school year

The Shelton Board of Education approved the 2020-2021 school budget during the September monthly meeting on Monday, September 14. Public hearings were held on the property tax request and the proposed 2020-2021 budget prior to the regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. The board also discussed and acted on a policy for admissions of part-time students, the social security deferral program for staff, and reviewed data on classroom observations in the current reality.
