WRVFD receives state Code Save Award

The Wood River Fire Department’s Emergency Medical Services team trains constantly so that the members have the skill set to save a life with Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and other lifesaving techniques if needed. Sometimes, even with all the tools, a successful outcome is not accomplished, but it’s important to give every patient the best possible chance. Recently the team was able to make a difference and use their skills to save a life. When that happens the State of Nebraska recognizes the team for their accomplishments.

Updates and space needs behind Gibbon Fire Hall expansion request

Three initiatives will face Gibbon voters in the November general election and all three have ties that lead back to the now half-century old Gibbon Fire Hall, which, if approved by voters, will be the subject of a major renovation and expansion project which will include new city offices, a community room and sheriff’s department office, as well as expanding the fire hall on the east side and alittle on the north to better accommodate the needs for more room for equipment and for more space and make repairs to the hall itself.
