Lady Eagles’ defense helps in win over Gibbon

In Saturday’s win on December 19 at home, the Lady Eagles held their guests, the Gibbon Lady Buffaloes, to single-digit scoring in all four of the quarters, resulting in the 62-26 Eagle win. Boston Boucher’s game-high total of 21 points included three buckets from beyond the arc and was helped by her six-for-seven game at the charity stripe. Her five boards tied her with Kiernan Paulk in that department, but Baylie Codner took the high-number honor by grabbing a game-leading total of six rebounds. Macie Peters and Jenna Rauert each had four of the team’s 31 rebounds. Wood River assumed control early with a 16-5 first period followed by their 16-9 second quarter. The dominance continued as the Eagles scored periods of 13 and 17 in the second half while Gibbon was getting seven and five.
