The Wood River Food Pantry was recently the recipient of a grant from Food Bank for the Heartland in the amount of $940 which will be used to purchase a new refrigeratorfreeze. In the past, the pantry relied on MNO Hometown Market to store its cold items.
Hamilton Telecommunications (Hamilton), a telecommunications and technology company based in Aurora, and Nebraska Central Telephone Company and Nebraska Central Telecom, Inc. (collectively NCTC), a provider of broadband, voice and television services based in Gibbon, recently announced that they have finalized an agreement whereby Hamilton will acquire NCTC in a deal which is expected to close before the end of the year. The purchase will expand the Hamilton suite of technology service offerings to current NCTC customers, and advance both companies’ ongoing fiber-to-thehome broadband projects.
Shelton native Adam O’Brien thinks growing up in a small town has distinct advantages. “You get more opportunities to participate in multiple sports, and your friends all play, so you want to be there,” he said. “It for sure made a large impact on my life.”
