Open house to honor Hulme’s 85th

The family of Gala Hulme is hosting an open house in honor of her 85th birthday on January 14. The celebration will be held on Sunday, January 19, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church located at 107 E. Niles Street in Cairo. Lady Eagle wrestlers compete at Cryin’ Creek Duals, Fillmore Central Invite

“The Wood River girls wrestling team competed at the Cryin’ Creek Dual Tournament on Monday, December 30, in Weeping Water,” reported head coach Christian Thompson. “Wood River was short-handed on the day due to injuries but came home with a sixth place finish. Wood River defeated Weeping Water and Nebraska City while dropping duals to Beatrice, West Point-Beemer, and Papillion LaVista.”

Buffalo boys grapplers find rough sledding at Wood River Holiday Duals

The competition was tough for the Gibbon Buffalo wrestlers at the Wood River Holiday Duals Tournament held on Saturday, January 4, where they finished in seventh place. The Gibbon boys met defeat at the hands of Aquinas Catholic, 28-54; Broken Bow, 35-47; Raymond Central, 21-47; and Wood River, 42-37. The Buffaloes topped Amherst by a 53-30 margin.
