Gibbon FBLA Chapter hosts Area meeting

On November 18, the Gibbon FBLA Chapter held an Area Chapter Meeting in which Kearney and Wood River FBLA members/ officers attended. Attendees watched a video from the Nebraska FBLA Parliamentarian, Irelyn Bearinger, who explained more about FBLA competitive events and how to become a state officer to members and guests. The meeting also had a guest speaker, Forde Holl, 2025 Gibbon alumnae, who shared about her entrepreneurship business Forde’s Cakes, the current finance internship through the University of Nebraska-Kearney and what it is like to be a college freshman. Everyone enjoyed pie and popcorn as a thank you for attending, a fun Thanksgiving snack to wrap up the meeting. Hamilton announces scholarship opportunity

Hamilton Telecommunications is excited to announce that it is once again participating in the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) annual college scholarship program to help students from rural communities with the costs of higher education. FRS awards a onetime scholarship to students from rural America for their first year of college, university, or vocational-technical school.

Branson signs with College of St. Mary

After a stellar career on the Shelton Bulldog volleyball court, Jalyn Branson will continue her playing career for the College of St. Mary in Omaha. A signing day event was held at the Shelton school on November 25 with College of St. Mary’s assistant coach Liz Henrichson on hand, along with Jalyn’s parents, Jason and Jeanette. The Shelton volleyball team and high school students were also in attendance for the signing. Jalyn will play as an outside hitter for the College of St. Mary’s Flames volleyball team which plays in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. (—courtesy photo)

As the month of December gets underway, a look at respective calendars and schedules for sporting and other events at Clipper Country schools shows a full slate of winter sports, concerts, and more. Gibbon, Shelton and Wood River Rural students, staffs, and parents will be busy in the weeks leading up to the Christmas holiday.
