The Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation awarded 22 teachers, including Clipper Country’s Kiley Codner and Kealey Widdowson, with funds in support of agricultural education and FFA programs in Nebraska.
Rural Nebraskans’ confidence in educational and governmental institutions has changed little in the past eight years, according to the 2025 Nebraska Rural Poll. However, more respondents expressed strong confidence in the presidency and executive branch than they did in 2017 or 2021.
Work is continuing at the Shelton Public Library inside and outside as an elevator is being installed inside and a parking project is in the works on the outside. The library is currently closed for safety reasons; however, patrons are still able to access reading materials. See library director Tony Crouse’s column on page 3 for more information. The Wood River Area Community Choir is recruiting members for this year’s Christmas performance. Starting its 23rd year in existence, the community choir’s continued success has been the dedication of a nucleus of singers throughout the area who are willing to sacrifice their time to bring quality and enjoyable music to the community.
Once again this month there was no problem getting a room full of residents to attend the regular monthly meeting of the Gibbon City Council on Monday, September 15, as the siren controversy drew more concerned residents than the council room could seat and a good number spent the meeting listening in city hall’s lobby.
